The History of our dogs

In the early 1980’s we acquired our two of our foundation terriers -
Bullet of Ripling (bred by Den Read) and Tarsia Plover (bred by Ann Brewer).
We mated the two dogs and they had a litter of four.

One of the dogs was sold to a pet home and one of the bitches
was sold to a working home where she later became the foundation
of a wonderful line of working & showing terriers.

The other 2 bitches in the litter were Ripling Hobby & Ripling Pippet,
who between them won many Championships & produced
many Working Show Champions themselves.

We had another distinct line at the time,
descended from both David Jones & Bill & Bridget Sayners line‘s.

These dogs included Ripling Revel and his litter sister Ripling Solar,
who were both big winners in the show ring
and also produced some great progeny.

We decided to cross the two main lines of our kennel and from these
matings we have the present day dogs of the Riplington Kennels.

Some years later, when the opportunity arose,
we decided to register our dogs with the Kennel Club.

Riplington Tawny Owl of Jagen and his brother Riplington Snowy Owl
(direct descendants of both these lines)
were the first dogs we showed under Kennel Club rules.

Riplington Tawny Owl of Jagen won BOB under Brenda Banbury at
Bath Championship Show in 1994.

In the same year he also won RBD at
Three Counties under Judge B Nicholls and RBD at
Midland Counties Judge Mr Paul Wilkinson

Riplington Bumpy Rhodes

Date of Birth: 6 June 1994

Died: 16 November 2007

Our first CC winner was Riplington Bumpy Rhodes. he won DCC and BOB in
1998 at Midland Counties Championship Show under the late Mr George
Simpson. He was also a good stud dog and a very special character.

Ch Riplington Sheep Shearer (Sadie) (Riplington Stardrift ex Riplington Daffy Defreitas) was our first homebred Champion. She won her first Challenge Certificate in 1999 at Scottish Kennel Club Championship Show under breed specialist Mr Mark Tuttle.

Her 2nd Challenge Certificate came under breed specialist
Mrs Jan Wood at National Championship Show in 2001
and in 2002 she gained her 3rd CC at Crufts under breed
specialist the late Mr George Simpson, making her a Champion.
